The Powell River Fire Department has launched a recruitment drive.
Deputy Chief Rocky Swanson says they’re hoping to add another dozen or so volunteers to the team. Swanson notes that he is hoping to see more women consider applying to the department.
He says the department is looking for someone with the right attitude – maturity, intelligence and a general positive outlook to the job, in order to keep the public and fellow crew members calm during an emergency situation.
Swanson says being a firefighter is an incredibly rewarding experience.
