Fatal Collision on Highway 101

On Tuesday, October 24th at around 2:30 PM, Powell River RCMP, the Malaspina Fire Department and Emergency Health Services (EHS) responded to a report of a Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) between a Kawasaki motorcycle and a Jeep TJ on Highway 101 and Loubert Road.

The 62-year-old operator of the motorcycle, of Powell River, was found deceased on scene. The 21-year-old driver of the Jeep, also from Powell River, was brought to Powell River General Hospital with minor injuries.

To date, the investigation has revealed that the motorcycle appeared to be travelling northbound on Highway 101 and collided with the Jeep, which was making a left hand turn onto Canoe Main Forestry Road.

Powell River RCMP, North Island Traffic Services and the BC Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate.
