Lesquitians are hot under the collar again!

It looks like the Powell River Regional District is moving to implement a costly 911 and house numbering system without consultation of the people of Lesqueti Island.
In June, Telus notified the regional district that they were cancelling it’s current paging system for 911 calls for the small island.
Then in Sept, a staff report was made that stated once the implementation costs were fully known, the Regional District would need to engage with the public of Lesqueti.
So says Andrew Hall, a local Les-kee-she-an. Hall also states that on the recommendation of PRRD staff, the Board adopted 1st, 2nd, and 3rd readings of both bylaws at one meeting on Dec 17th.
coast fm news caught up with Hall……

Tonight at the Powell River Regional District meeting, Leskee-she-ans will see if they will be heard and in turn, allowed to have input in the process that will effect how they live.

You can attend this meeting at 7pm TONIGHT at 4675 Marine Avenue in the Gibson s Crossing II building, in the Powell River Regional District Board Room in Powell River s downtown core.
