POWELL RIVER, B.C.- A would-be thief had his efforts thwarted by dogs.
In a media release, Constable Ron Palmquist said police received word of an attempted break and enter to a detached garage on December 28th. The home was in the 3700 block of Selkirk Avenue.
The suspect was not able to break in to the garage and the investigation revealed that the individual was possibly scared off by the homeowner’s dogs.
In another incident last week, someone stole loose change from an unlocked Ford F350 on the 4000 block of Gordon Avenue.
On December 29th, police received a report of a hit and run on the 7300 block of Field Street. A westbound vehicle (possibly a Chevrolet Canyon or Colorado, according to the police report) crashed into a parked Pontiac Torrent. The driver did not stop and continued driving westbound after the collision.
Palmquist said a vehicle had also been damaged in the 4900 block of Queens Avenue. The four tires on a Ford Focus had been slashed sometime during the night of December 31st.
Starting off the new year, police received a report of a theft of a vehicle.
The white 2015 Chevrolet Cube Van (license #KW4496) had been stolen while parked on Manson Avenue the night of December 31st or in the early hours of January 1st, 2018.
The vehicle is registered to Modern Aluminium and Vinyl, and has a business decal on the side.
At around 6:00 p.m. on December 31st, someone broke into Massullo Motors on Joyce Avenue. No items were taken in the incident.
