RCMP see 129 calls for service in last week

POWELL RIVER, B.C.- Mounties in Powell River responded to 129 calls for service over the past week, according to a release by Sergeant Kevin Day.

In one case, on January 17th, the RCMP received a report of a break-in to a shed on the 4700 block of Michigan Avenue. Thieves stole several items, including a STIHL chainsaw, a gas weed eater, two fishing rods, two manual down-riggers and a tackle box.

One theft from a vehicle was also called in to the Powell River detachment.

On January 16th, police received notice of gas that was stolen from a pick-up parked on the 4500 block of Golden Avenue. The RCMP investigation found that sometime overnight, an unknown amount of culprits siphoned gas from the vehicle.

On Thursday, January 18th, police received a report of a stolen bicycle. The bike was reportedly taken sometime since January 9th, according Day’s release.

It was taken from the backyard of a residence on the 3700 block of Selkirk Avenue. The bike is described as a Giant Trance 3 Blue 18-speed mountain bike.

Anyone with further details is asked to call the Powell River RCMP or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Calls to CrimeStoppers remain anonymous.

In his release, Day noted that they also responded to four calls of impaired driving between January 15th and 22nd, three calls of break and enter, 14 thefts, seven assaults and six cases of mischief.
