The Sustainability Charter is the product of citizens, community leaders, and local agencies, including the Tla amin First Nation, the City of Powell River, the Powell River Regional District, Vancouver Island University, School District 47 (Powell River), and Catalyst Paper.
It sets out a clear statement of this area s intention to become more sustainable over time and to work closely together to achieve that vision. This Wednesday from 5:30-8:30 at VIU, is the perfect time and place to see how it is coming along….. and help choose your favorite actions.
As the Charter is a living document, feedback concerning this initial version has been collected and
incorporated into following revisions. The action ideas for consideration originated from community surveys/open houses, the Sustainability Charter the SOCP as well as other community/regional plans such as the regional transportation plan.
Many locals have put in their 2 cents and how you’re being asked to suggest the top actions for Powell River to continue the journey toward a more sustainable and resilient Powell River.
that’s the word from Dan Wilson of the Whistler Centre for Sustainability
Both Wilson and Thomas Knight, Powell River’s Director of Planning will be at the Open House this Wednesday the 11th, folks are invited to drop in from 5:30 to 8:30. There will be a presentation at 6:15.
