Applications open to join Library Board

POWELL RIVER, B.C.- Anyone interested in getting more involved with the Powell River Library can now apply to be a part of its Board.

The Board is responsible for managing and setting up the overall direction of the library’s services, in accordance with Part Two of the Library Act.

Board members serve on a volunteer basis, without remuneration, and are expected to share in group activities and responsibilities, as well as attend monthly meetings.

Applicants have to be a resident or elector of Powell River. Employees at the Regional District, the City or at the library itself are not eligible to apply.

A notice on the city’s website said that people with experience or interest in fundraising are of particular focus. Anyone looking to apply can submit a letter detailing their interest and should include any particular work experience or other qualifications relevant to the position.

Applicants have to also supply two current references, either personal or professional.

Applications can be submitted to Powell River City Clerk Chris Jackson until 4:00 p.m. on February 16th.

Questions can be directed towards Chief Librarian Terry Noreault at [email protected] or 604-485-4796.
