POWELL RIVER, B.C.- Crews are undertaking some maintenance work on the MV Island Sky, starting today through to Sunday, March 18th.
The vessel serves the route between Powell River (Saltery Bay) and Sechelt (Earls Cove). During the repairs, the MV Bowen Queen will service the route.
On a notice at their website, BC Ferries stated that the MV Bowen Queen is not equipped with an elevator. Fully accessible washroom facilities are available for people who remain on the car deck during the voyage, according to the advisory.
Commercial customers are being reminded that the available height vehicle capacity is reduced while the MV Bowen Queen is in service. Vehicles over 10,000 kg are restricted to center lane loading, with a maximum width for over-height vehicles of 10.1 feet.
The vehicle capacity of the replacement vessel is lower than the MV Island Sky. Because of this, BC Ferries has added one additional round trip on the route.
That sailing will leave Saltery Bay at 1:40 p.m. and depart Earls Cove at 2:40 p.m.
