Salvation Army extreme weather shelter open tonight

POWELL RIVER, BC- The Salvation Army is opening up its extreme weather shelter Monday night.

The special shelter operates October through March and only opens in light of extreme weather events.

Environment Canada is predicting that the temperature will dip below zero this evening, to -5 degrees Celsius.

Doors for the shelter will be open from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, allowing individuals to go in and get out of the cold, snow or any other severe weather.

The Salvation Army will provide individuals seeking shelter with some light snacks, good company and a warm place to lay their head for the night.
