ARC Community Event Centre to host St. John Ambulance first aid training

POWELL RIVER, B.C.-The St. John Ambulance will continue to teach first aid in the community.

That’s thanks to a partnership between them and Inclusion Powell River. The organization has agreed to let St. John Ambulance use its ARC Community Event Centre to hold its training sessions.

Patricia Townsley, CEO of Inclusion Powell River, calls it a “win-win for both organizations”.

Townsley says the partnership was spearheaded by Sara Young, an Inclusion employee, and Brenda-Lee Regimbald, a St. John instructor. She says it benefits the community because plenty of organizations, including Inclusion Powell River itself, need its staff to have first aid training.

St. John Ambulance providing it locally means those organizations can save money by not having to send staff to Comox to get the training done. Townsley says it’s ”a really good example of solutions you can find when organizations work together; a great example of collaboration.”

The Powell River St. John Ambulance was shut down over financial issues in February, after being in the city for 107 years.
