Mechanical issues cancel ferry sailings

UPDATE: Due to the mechanical issue, the 3:25 PM sailing departing Comox to Powell River has been cancelled. The 5:15 PM sailing from Powell River to Comox has also been cancelled.

POWELL RIVER, B.C. – BC Ferries has had to cancel one of its Sunday morning sailings due to a mechanical issue.

A notice from the company stated that the Salish Orca’s planned 11:50 a.m. departure from Powell River’s Westview terminal has been cancelled because of a problem with the ship’s forward air compressor motor.

“We are working to resolve the issue and we will keep you informed as soon as more information becomes available. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience you may experience as a result of this cancellation,” read the notice.

The company has also cancelled its earlier 9:55 a.m. sailing out of Comox’s Little River terminal to Powell River.
