First Nation woodland license granted

It was recently announced a new woodland license was provided to a first nation’s group in Campbell River.

Wei Wai Kum was issued with the 25-year licence, which allows them to harvest around 99-hundred cubic metres of timber each year from their traditional territories.

It will cover over a two thousand hectare parcel of Crown land near Heydon Bay, and another twelve hundred hectares by Pye Lake.

Steve Thompson is the Minister of Forest, Lands and Natural Resource Operations…

This is the third First Nations woodland licence given out since B.C. began the program in 2011.
