Powell River Villa keep win streak alive

POWELL RIVER, B.C. – The Powell River Villa are on a roll.

The team currently sits atop division two of the Vancouver Island Soccer League (VISL), after picking up their fourth straight win this weekend.

Scott Sawchuck scored the lone goal against Nanaimo United at Timberlane Park for the 1-0 Villa victory.

The team is two points of Saanich and four ahead of Prospect Lake in division two.

One nasty moment in the game came when Brandon Knox received a red card and was ejected from the field, along with an opponent. The incident means Knox will not play in the Villa’s next game against the Victoria Highlanders (2 wins, one draw).

That matchup is scheduled for this Saturday, October 13th at Westhill Stadium at 8:00 p.m.

Villa’s next home game is against Vic West on Saturday, October 20th.
