UPDATE: Power has been restored.
POWELL RIVER, B.C- More than a thousand residents of Powell River currently have no power.
According to the BC Hydro website, an outage is reaching west of Road B, south of Drake Street, and north of the ferry terminal. A tree is down across power lines, which is causing the issue.
1204 people are impacted by the outage.
According to Powell River’s deputy fire chief Rocky Swanson, Highway 101 between Westview and Townsite is getting closed while crews work on getting trees off the lines.
BC Hydro workers are enroute.
