VICTORIA, B.C. – It was a 2-0 loss to Gorge on Saturday for the Powell River Villa.

However, the defeat hasn’t changed their spot in the standings of Division 2 of the Vancouver Island Soccer League (VISL). The Villa remain in first place, and hold on to a one point lead over Juan de Fuca, who closed the gap in the standings with a 2-1 win over Saanich this weekend.

Saanich will visit Timberlane Park against the Villa on Saturday, Nov. 10. Saanich is in third place in the the division.

Following the game, a beer and burger fundraiser in memory of Dylan Buckle and Braxton Leask is scheduled at the Soccer Centre. Buckle and Leask were shot and killed in Lund in 2017.

Tickets for the fundraiser are $20 each.
