Multiple Powell River ferry sailings cancelled, afternoon sailings to be announced

POWELL RIVER, B.C- The ferry service from Powell River has been having a rough day.

After morning sailings between Comox and Powell River were cancelled, further sailings between Texada Island and Powell River were also cancelled.

All the cancellations have been due to the rough weather hitting the coast today.

The North Island Princess had to cancel the following sailings.

11:25 am departing Texada Island (Blubber Bay)

12:15 pm departing Powell River (Westview)

The Salish Raven cancelled the 9:55 am departing Little River and the 11:50 am departing Powell River.

“The safety of our passengers and crew is of primary importance to us,” read a statement from BC Ferries.

“We don’t take the decision to cancel sailings lightly, as we know customers rely on us to get to their destinations. We will resume service as soon as it is safe to do so. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience experienced as a result of this cancellation.”

We will update this story as more service notices are released by the ferry service.
