$3-million are going towards suicide prevention programs. That’s from Comox Valley MLA Don McRae.
The provincial government is providing the funds that are going towards the Canadian Mental Health Association’s British Columbia division.
McRae says the funds will help train individuals throughout the province to make sure they have the proper tools to deal with mental health emergencies.
McRae adds the Ministry of Health is always working to make important investments towards mental health issues. He believes the 3-million dollar funding will be well served across the province and help elevate awareness on mental health.
The training program will be rolled out over the next 3 years and it’s expected that 20,000 British Columbians will be trained by 2018.
