POWELL RIVER, B.C. – A 41-year-old man was arrested after crashing his car into a tree last week.

Constable Chris Bakker with the Powell River RCMP said that on January 18th, at around 8:37 p.m., police responded to a collision in the 5000 block of Marine Avenue.

On scene, they found a vehicle that had crashed into a tree. The driver, a 41-year-old man, was still on scene. As police were speaking to him, they detected the scent of liquor coming from him.

Bakker said once the driver was medically cleared, he was taken to the RCMP detachment and provided a breath sample.

Bakker said the man was found to be intoxicated, and is facing charges of impaired driving.
