Powell River RCMP release crime blog of the week

The following stories and statistics have been culled from the crime blog of the Powell River RCMP.

On October 16th, 2015 the Powell River RCMP received a report that a 2003 20-foot Metalcraft boat trailer was stolen from the upper parking lot of the Shingle Mill Marina. The trailer is blue and white with dual axles. Anyone with information regarding this theft is asked to contact the Powell River RCMP or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

On October 13th, 2015 the Powell River RCMP received a report of a theft of a wallet from a motor vehicle which had been parked at the Brooks Soccer field on Sunday, October 11th.

The vehicle was unlocked at the time of the theft. In addition to the wallet, a black Gerber Hunting Knife in a black nylon sheath was also stolen. On October 15th, 2015 Powell River RCMP received a report of a theft from vehicle that had been parked at the Powell River court house. The theft had occurred sometime between 3:45 and 5:30 pm the day before. Stolen items included 6 packs of Export A cigarettes as well as four new Mainstay pillows. The vehicle was unlocked at the time of the theft.

Police would like to remind the public of the importance of locking their vehicle’s when unattended. In addition, the public should try to leave personal belongings out of view. Both of these thefts occurred during daylight hours and out in public. It is believed that these incidents could have been prevented if the vehicle doors were locked. Anyone with information regarding these thefts are asked to contact the Powell River RCMP or Crimestoppers at 1-0800-222-TIPS (8477).
