HIV testing being offered to patients at Campbell River Hospital

Routine HIV testing is now being offered to all patients at the Campbell River Hospital. The Province now recommends everyone get tested for HIV every 5 years.

Dr. Jeffery Ricketson says early detection is important in the management of HIV.

Ricketson says the goal of routine testing is to catch patients who may have HIV but do not yet show symptoms or have risk factors.

Ricketson says HIV is a manageable chronic illness, but early detection is important.
