Ocean Network developing earthquake warning system

A Vancouver Island-based organization is working on developing an early warning system for earthquakes.

Ocean Networks Canada has received $5-million from the province for the project.

Spokesperson Teron Moore says the funding will be used to add more sensors and enable increased analysis. He’s says the funding is huge for the project and will go a long way.

Moore says the goal is to provide enough warning of seismic events so steps can be taken to reduce damage and protect residents.
