The government is taking step to improve fibre supply for forest product manufacturers.
Minister of Forests, Lands and Natural Resources Steve Thomson says the changes are designed to ensure that residual fibre is made available to secondary users.
Thomson says they have heard loud and clear from forestry companies and forest product manufacturers that having a reliable fibre supply is a big issue.
The amendments to the Forest Act were introduced in the legislature late last week. Thomson says once the changes pass, the Ministry can move forward with developing the regulations.
