Red Shirt Day

The family and friends of one of the men killed in a shooting last week at
the Western Forest Products mill in Nanaimo are already trying to turn his
death into something positive.

Michael Lunn’s longtime friend Lynn Jakes says they’re launching the Red
Shirt Foundation, named after his favourite colour.

Jakes says they’re going to fund research much-needed on workplace violence
and use the foundation to raise awareness about the issue.

She says WFP is offering to help incorporate the foundation, and they’re
gathering donations through their website, redshirtfoundation.com

Lunn’s Celebration of Life is tomorrow and they’re asking people across the
country to wear a red shirt in his honour. Fred McEachern’s funeral is also
happening tomorrow in Nanaimo.
