Spaces to be added to NIC’s Health Care Assistant program

North Island College is receiving one-time funding to offer more spaces in its health care assistant program. The province is providing $80,000 in one-time funding.

Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, Randall Heidt, says 20 new spaces will be added. He notes this is going to benefit students, as well as the surrounding community.

Heidt says it’s a career that’s in high demand. Some of these students can end up working long-term with seniors who need care.

Heidt says the funding will allow the college to add 10 spaces to the fall intake and 10 seats for the winter semester.
