North Island Hospitals Project praised for energy efficiency

The North Island Hospitals Project are being praised for the eco-friendliness of both the new Campbell River and Comox Valley hospitals.

Chief Project Officer Tom Sparrow says work is coming along quite nicely.

Sparrow says the 2 new hsopitals are the most energy efficient facilities in Canada.

Sparrow says greenhouse gas emissions will be significantly lower than at the existing hospitals and the new facilities will use roughly half the energy of the current hospitals in operation per square metre. The Campbell River and Comox Valley hospitals are set to be open next year.
