Four arrested during confrontation with Powell River RCMP

Four people will appear in provincial court after a confrontation with Powell River RCMP officers last weekend.

Powell River RCMP say they responded to a report after midnight on March 25 that someone was trying to steal a vehicle at Strikers Bar and Grill. They say three individuals approached them when they got there, saying they had taken car keys from a woman who had too much to drink and should not be driving.

Officers say they tried to talk to the woman, but she was agitated and confrontational. They add the three individuals then came close to the officers, started swearing and obstructing police.

After ignoring police directions and becoming “assaultive,” RCMP say all four individuals were arrested on various charges including obstructing a peace officer, causing a disturbance, mischief, resisting arrest and assault of a peace officer.

RCMP add all four were intoxicated and held in cells until they got sober. They were later released to appear in provincial court.

If you have any information on this incident, you are asked to call Powell River RCMP at 604-485-6255.
