The spray park at Willingdon Beach in Powell River has been forced to close.
Both Powell River Recreation and the City announced the closure on social media, with the recreation department saying that the theft of some electrical components is the cause.
Park Supervisor Mike Kaban was informed about this incident yesterday morning, with him adding that this adds to the recent increase of component thefts over the last six months.
“This is especially affecting kids,” says Kaban. “Because normally when our infrastructure gets affected, nobody knows about it, but this time the kids at the park aren’t able to use these components, because of the thefts.”
The city assures residents the park will be running again soon.
