New map projects aimed at preserving Tla’amin Language
A new project is being launched to help preserve the Tla’amin language.
Elder Betty Wilson says the discussion began after seeing a huge response to a workshop on the Tla’amin language.
Bert Finnamore with the Powell River Historical Museum and Archives says the funding will be used to gather the place names for areas in the Tla’amin traditional territory.
Finnamore says the project is expected to take about two years, but will be a living project that can be added to in the future.
