Enrollment up at VIU

Vancouver Island University Registrar Fred Jacklin says he is happy to see an increase in total academic undergraduate enrollment of 2.8% compared to last year.

Domestic headcount at VIU has been on the decline, but remained stable this year, and is slightly up from last fall.

Jacklin says there are about 1600 new international students from over 90 countries, in programs and courses at the university.

Jacklin notes the university has also seen an increase in Aboriginal students enrolling at the university, which they recognize is an under-served market.
