Residents are being asked to keep an eye on catch basins and storm drains in the coming week.
Manager of Emergency Services with the Regional District, Ryan Thoms, says it’s a good idea for people to check catch basins to make sure they are not covered in leaves and debris from the storms that have hit us.
Powell River received more than double its average rainfall through October and there’s more rain on the way. Thoms notes that the ground is fully saturated right now, which means it’s important to make sure drains are clear so the water has somewhere to go.
