BC Tourism Aiming to Increase Visitors to the Coast with a New Inititiative

The Island Coastal Economic Trust is cutting the BC Ocean Boating Tourism Association a big cheque to help it attract more visitors to the BC coast.

WEBSITEThe Association’s Chair David Mailloux says the 29-thousand 400 dollars will be key for getting the initiative off the ground.

Mailloux says they’ll be coordinating with marinas and other stops of interest to boaters, including provincial parks.

The goal is a 10-15 per cent increase in marine tourism over the next ten years.

Gibsons-based project manager Michael McLaughlin says they’re seeing a lot of enthusiasm from area marina owners and others who’d benefit from a boost in boater visits.
