UBCM unanimously supports changes being made to BC Ferries

The Premier and Transportation Minister are at least committing to further talks, after delegates at the Union of BC Municipalities unanimously supported changes to BC ferries.

Those include restoring service levels and fares to 2013 levels, treating ferries like an extension of the highway system, and funding them accordingly.

Islands Trust Chair Sheila Malcolmson says the promise by Christy Clark andTodd Stone to continue talks with coastal communities is nothing new….

 

Malcolmson adds she’s optimistic, and so are others who were at the meeting, even though the province doesn’t have to act on UBCM resolutions.
