An app has been developed to help track and clean up illegal dumping in the region.
The annual Trash Bash Clean-Up took place on the weekend in an effort to clean up illegal dump sites.
Spokesperson Abby McLennan says if people are interested in doing more clean-up, you can see where dump sites are through the Trash Out app.
“You can see the photo of what’s [garbage] there, so it’s a good way [to get the exact location of the trash] and you check it off, that you’ve cleaned the site,” she says.
McLennan says along with being unsightly, illegal dumping can have serious impacts to both the environment and wildlife.
