Premier reacts to Ottawa Shootings

The heavy police presence continues in downtown Ottawa following this morning’s shootings…

WEBSITECanadian Forces reservist Corporal Nathan Cirillo  was gunned down as he stood guard at the National War Memorial… In a second incident on Parliament Hill a shooting suspect was killed and it’s still unclear if he was the only gunman.

Police say the situation remains “dynamic and unfolding”

In Victoria, the Legislature got back to business with a moment of silence and pledges from the premier, the NDP leader and the speaker not to let fear force them to close access to public institutions.

Premier Christy Clark says British Columbians stand by the people of Ottawa.

Opposition leader John Horgan took up the theme of keeping the Legislature a place the public is still welcome.


Prime Minister Stephen Harper is expected to address the nation later today.
