The province is in the process of setting the annual allowable cut… or amount of timber that may be harvested in our area…. and they have just put out a timber supply review report for the Strathcona Timber Supply Area.
That includes forest area on the west coast, the Island and mainland.
Albert Nussbaum from the ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations says this report is just one step in the process.
He says the Chief forester will likely put out that annual allowable cut early next year… and that would contain allowable cut information for the next 10 years.
Nussbaum says the public can read their report and submit comments through the ministry website.
