Though the number of people killed in the forestry industry is down this year the Forest Safety Council are continuing their work.
The council’s chief executive officer Renyold Hert says in 2014 there were two direct fatalities in the Island Coastal Region& compared to 7 fatalities each of the previous two years.
He describes some of their ongoing safety initiatives…
Hert says they are also working to get mechanized equipment working on steep slopes to keep fallers out of hazard areas.
