The District of Sechelt has been in place for 30 years.
Councillor Mike Shanks was one of the elected Aldermen back in 1986 when Sechelt went from a village to a District and he says the evolution of Sechelt has been interesting to see.
Shanks says when he first started, the District of Sechelt had around 5 staff members and now they have around 60 staff members.
Shanks says he’s served under seven different Mayors and have been on seven councils and he feels the District of Sechelt trending towards the right direction.
