An earthquake could have some serious consequences for Island residents. Ray Hebden, with Hebden Engineering says a shake could cause the Tsawwassen and Horseshoe Bay Ferry terminals to crumble because of what they’re built on.
Hebden says his company’s proposed a plan to avoid a potential disaster. But there may be some problems getting that done.
He also noted that Canada’s only navy base is on the Pacific Coast is in Esquimalt…and the only major air force base is of course in Comox. Although they supply a lot of their own materials, they do depend highly on ferries to transport needed commodities.
