A telephone scam has left one Powell River resident with a loss of $1500.
This, from Constable Tim Kenning of the Local RCMP detachment, who gives us more details on the scam…
Constable Kenning says in this particular scam they use fear, calling pretending to be a family member that is in some sort of trouble, and need you to wire transfer them money.
As for warning signs of scam callers? Constable Kenning says the golden rule is, “if it’s too good to be true, it IS too good to be true.”
