The private members’ bill, introduced last year by Ontario MP Michael Chong,
is designed to give individual MPs — the so-called “back benchers” — a
little more say and to reduce party leaders influence over things like
nominations.
Weston says it comes out of a fight over making statements in the Commons…
The bill was up for debate for the first time last week… and the first
vote will likely be in September
