Island Health says it’s chosen a company to do some publicly-funded day surgeries and colonoscopies.
Suzanne Germain with Island Health says they still need to finalize a contract with Surgical Centres Inc, which is looking to open a facility in the Greater Victoria area by mid-2016
Germain says they hope the company will be able to do up to 3-thousand colonoscopies a year for patients on central Vancouver Island, and reduce wait times by taking pressure off hospitals.
The company also runs Nanaimo’s Seafield Surgical Centre which has been doing operations for Island Health for more than 10 years.
