Local MLA weighs in on provincial budget survey

POWELL RIVER, B.C. – British Columbians now have the chance to share their views on what the 2018 provincial budget should look like.

The government has made an online survey available following the release of the Budget 2019 consultation paper. That document can be viewed here.

The consultation process asks residents to voice their thoughts on how the government can best support a diverse and sustainable economy, while maintaining a balanced budget.

In addition to completing the online survey, residents can send in a written submission or attend one of the public meetings being held across the province.

“So far we’ve been to Prince George and Dawson Creek. The issues we’re hearing in these communities so far have a lot to do with transportation funding, health care funding, challenges with the wildfires,” said Powell River-Sunshine Coast MLA Nicholas Simons.

“The issues will be different in every community, but we’ve heard from every sector imaginable (so far).”

More details, including a link to the survey, can be found here.

Submissions must be in by October 5th to be included in the process.
