Comox-Powell River ferry sailings cancelled for the rest of the day, travellers asked to keep receipts

POWELL RIVER, B.C- There will be no more ferry trips between Comox and Powell River today.

Earlier this morning, ferry sailings between Little River and Westview were cancelled due to the Salish Raven experiencing a problem with it’s aft thruster. Sailings have now been cancelled for the remainder of the day.

According to BC Ferries, specialized technicians are working on the problem, with a status update coming to the public once it’s available.

The Salish Orca will now be resuming regularly scheduled service on the run starting tomorrow.

Specialized technicians are troubleshooting the fault and a status update will be provided to customers once available.

According to the Northern Sunshine Coast Ferry Advisory Committee, the Salish Orca is coming up from refit to resume the service.

“Affected travellers should hold on to receipts for hotel/extra travel costs incurred,” read a post from the committee’s Facebook page.

“Contact Customer Care at 1-888-223-3779 for refunds.”
