Conservatives promise to deal with derelict vessels

It’s the time for campaign announcements in the Island Coastal Region, with the Greens, NDP and Conservatives all promising initiatives aimed at regional concerns.

The Conservatives say if re-elected they’ll put new resources into dealing with derelict boats.

West Vancouver Sunshine Coast incumbent John Weston says the promise includes making his private members bill government policy.

Green Leader Elizabeth May promises her party will do more to protect Canada’s fresh water resources.

And the NDP have pledged to make BC Ferries eligible for federal infrastructure money for terminal upgrades and new ships, which they say will lead to lower fares.
