Police investigating assault on Joyce Avenue

POWELL RIVER, B.C. – The RCMP in Powell River is investigating an assault on Joyce Avenue.

Constable Chris Bakker said police responded on December 17th at around 12:18 a.m.

A woman was walking along the 4400 block of Joyce Avenue when an unknown male allegedly came up behind her and hit her on the shoulder.

Bakker said the man then fled the scene, running southbound on Joyce.

He said the suspect was dressed in all black.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE

On December 15th, at around 6:24 p.m., police responded to a report of a theft on the 6700 block of Cranberry Street. Sometime during the previous night, Bakker said fuel was syphoned from a vehicle.

Between December 13th and 19th, the RCMP responded to 71 calls for service.

Some of these calls included three thefts, three assaults, three incidents of impaired driving, three cases of mischief and one break-and-enter.
