Tough weekend for the Powell River Kings

It was a rough weekend for the Powell River Kings in the BCHL.
Kicking things off was a game against Victoria on Friday. The Grizzlies dominated the final period with 4 goals, including Kevin Massy’s second of the night. He was later named the first star of the game and the Victoria Grizzlies skated away with the 5-2 win.
Things didn’t get much better on Saturday for the Kings. They were in the Cowichan Valley going up against the Capitals. The Caps started the game off strong, with 2 goals in the first period.
Patrick Geary scored his 2nd goal of the game in the second period of play. The third period went scoreless and the Cowichan Valley Capitals held on for the 3-0 victory.
The loss ended Powell River’s 2-game win streak. They’re record is still strong and has them atop the league’s Island Division standings. They’ve got 20 points on the year at a record of 10-5-0-0.
The Kings will try to get back into the winning groove on Friday. They’re back in familiar territory, on home ice against the Penticton Vees.
