Do you plan on heading out on the water any time soon? Well it’s important to have all the necessary safety gear, and a proper emergency plan in case something goes wrong.
Yvonne Laviolette is a boating safety officer with the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue Station 60. She says the waters can be quite frigid, and there’s another important thing to do before you take out your watercraft.
Laviolette has a tip if you find yourself going overboard.
She advises to always wear an approved flotation device and carry a charged 2-way radio in case you need to call for help.
