The City of Powell River and its firefighters have a new contract.
The two sides have agreed on an 8-year agreement.
Bill Grantham with International Association of Fire Fighters local 1298 says they are pleased with the contract.
Grantham says wages are in line with their BC benchmark, with comparable departments like Port Alberni and Campbell River. He says the agreement also helps with having at least 3 fighters on a truck.
The agreement is back-dated to December 31, 2011 and will run to the end of 2019.
