North Island College is receiving some funding for adult basic education in Bella Coola.
Assistant VP of Access and Regions, Tony Bellavia, says it’s being run in partnership with the Nuxalk Nation. Bellavia says they focus on pre-requisite programs such as English and Math so students can apply for other programs that require on those pre-requisites, like health and business.
Bellavia says having the right pre-requisites can be a big barrier for adults looking to go back to school or looking to take a trades program.
