The 20th annual Walk Away From Racism takes place in Campbell River this weekend.

Sliammon Elder Elsie Paul will be the keynote speaker this year.

Immigrant Welcome Centre spokesperson Jim Brennan says they are thrilled to have Paul speak. He notes she is someone well known across the Province.

Brennan says the event touches on how racism affects the community and identifies some of the great things happening in the area to help shut-down racism.

The event runs from 10:30 to 2 at the Campbell River Community Centre.
